diligence for the wrong goals is more harmful than laziness on the right.
Peter Bamm, German physician and writer, 1897 - 1975
we know our goals? What would be wrong, what are the right ones? Unfortunately underlines yet again that even people who are accustomed professionally and strategically and to think and act in a goal-oriented, privately fail completely when it comes to life goals. It is not uncommon for top pros from the economy than a simple claim, their private lives to reflect and to get ideas for personal development. You might think: The more intelligent someone is, the more sensible is he / she deal with themselves. Unfortunately that's not really.
Everyone must find out how he wants to avoid the risk, "with hard work chasing the wrong goals. Helps me year after year that I define my PEP targets. The "PEP - Personal Development Plan" is a grid with the five core objectives. For each area, I use 3-5 years Objectives:
- work: What I want to achieve in my professional career in 2011?
- Love, Family & Relationships: What do I take to me for my role as a husband and father?
- society: Who and how will I maintain friendship? What I take responsibility for the general public?
- self: How do I keep a good handle myself?
- Spirituality: What do I do to integrate the question of meaning in my life?
following tools to help me put my years objectives:
- PEP - the personal development plan (a template specifies here )
- 24-PEP-retreat: go away 24 hours, for me all alone, a day of skiing, while thinking about life
- The family yearbook: Together with my family again last year to look back and express wishes for the new year.
- coaching session: discuss with my coach the targets.
added impetus to a life with PEP available in the following blog post: With PEP druchs life
